Jim Lehrer, Longtime PBS Anchor, Dies At 85

Jim Lehrer joined up with PBS within the 1970s and went on to moderate 12 presidential debates and compose some 20 novels, three memoirs and several performs.

Jim Lehrer, the veteran journalist and journalist recognized for his constant, low-key existence into the usually loud realm of television news, passed away Thursday. He co-founded PBS’ NewsHour and won numerous honors — including Peabody and Emmy prizes and a nationwide Humanities Medal — in a vocation that spanned some 50 years.
